Review: The Thing (2011)
This movie is said to be a prequel to the 1982 film, but it hits so many of the same notes and the fact that it’s just titled The Thing makes it feel more like a remake.
Prequel remake talk aside, this version of The Thing actually manages to be a pretty good stand alone movie. It never stood a chance to live up to the ridiculously high standards set by John Carpenter’s movie. The 2011 version still manages to be an entertaining, who-done-it, sci-fi, horror movie.
Don’t use John Carpenter’s The Thing as the measuring stick and you might be able to enjoy this movie.
